30 Day Challenge - Final

Back in February, Ms. Lees assigned us to challenge ourselves and create a "thirty-day challenge", in which we would create a simple goal for ourselves and attempt to achieve the goal by completing what we assigned ourselves for thirty days.

My goal that I had chosen was to drink a full bottle of water for the thirty days that we had to participate in the challenge. I chose a simple challenge because I really want to achieve this goal. The reason for this challenge was because my mom had always complained that I was not drinking enough water, and thought it was eventually going to become a health problem for me. I also found that I always forgot to drink water during school.

So far, I've been able to achieve this goal and was able to drink a bottle of water every day, during school time. I was able to achieve this easily, since my goal was very simple, and also because my mother had reminded me every morning to bring a bottle of water to school.

I believe that I have completed the "thirty-day challenge" successfully and that because I was able to do this for thirty days, I can make this become more of a habit for me. By turning this into something I do every day, it can be more beneficial for my body and also stop my mom from complaining about how less water I drink.

30 day challenge final report

My 30 day challenge was to wake up at 6:30am except Sundays.  However, when I first started the challenge, it seemed easy, but I couldn't stick to it!  Therefore, I decided purchase the alarm with the biggest noise and also got two alarm clocks.  Therefore, after that change, I first had a difficult time waking up, but after about 3 days, I was used to it.  I am really glad that I set this challenge because this is helping me a lot.  I sometimes have homework left that needs to be finished and I can save my precious time.  In conclusion, I want to say that I really thought that this was a good experience and I want to do a different 30 day challenge.

What we did
Today in Ms. Lees humanity class, people that weren't finished the diary yesterday were suppose to finish the diary with research and notes.  However, some people still didn't finish there diary yet.  Thus, Ms. Lees said that they now had to sacrifice their lunch time and come to the LST room tomorrow.  Then, she started talking about the strike that looked like it was going to happen soon.  Then, we got into groups for the skit and we started making scripts and come up with ideas.

Why we did it
I think Ms. Lees told people that weren't finished the diary to go to the LST room because Ms. Lees wanted to teach the unfinished students the consequences of not completing homework.  Ms. Lees also talked about the strike because a lot of us were very curious and we had to know what to do.  Then, I think we had the skit rehearsal because the class is when everyone is together and so that we can save our time by doing it in the class.

Connection/Reflection
I think it was a good choice of Ms. Lees making people go to the LST room at lunch tomorrow because students in our class little lousy about homework, and this would be a great way to learn about completing assignments.  I think that the skit rehearsal was pretty fun because it had lots of communication and doing a skit is a fun and exciting thing.  However, as always the room became obnoxiously loud.  Therefore, we should start working on concentrating on work.

Homework/Tips
There is no homework but the people that didn't finish the diary, you must go to the LST room tomorrow and finish it off.  Also, we're going to be finishing 'There will be wolves' soon, so get ahead on them.  Keep up with your 30 day plan and FLEX is Thursday so if you have a question, come.

What we did
Today in Ms. Lees' humanity 8 class, everyone was suppose to finish the Medieval Role project.  However, a large portion of our class didn't finish the project because some people were absent and some people had some different excuses.  Therefore, for the whole block, a large portion of us were just trying finish the diary.  However, some people weren't even finished the research, so those people finished the research first.  Then, Ms. Lees asked us if we were having any trouble with the bibliography, so she helped us with the bibliography.  The people that were finished got together and started on the skit.

Why we did it
I think Ms. Lees wanted us to finish the diary before we got started on the project because diary is a important part of the project and it was also due today.  Ms. Lees helped us with the bibliographies because doing bibliography was a little bit challenging and people were having trouble with doing bibliographies.  I think Ms. Lees let the students that finished get started on the skit because Ms. Lees didn't want them doing nothing and it was privilege of finishing the project on time.

Connection/Reflection
I really liked the way Ms. Lees was a very nice and flexible teacher because most teachers  deduct marks when students didn't finish by the due date.  However, Ms. Lees just gave the whole to the people that weren't finished the project which I thought was very generous of her.   Also, I think going over the bibliography was very awesome because I found out that I had made lots of mistakes and I would get a lot of marks of for that if I just handed that in.   However, I found that the class was obnoxious loud even lots of people were many behind and if I was a teacher, I would just make the student hand in whatever they have so I think our class should get quieter.

Homework/Tips
For homework, finish the diary, notes, and the bibliography for the project.  We're going to be finished 'There will be wolves' soon, so get ahead by doing the chapter questions.  If you're behind, FLEX is on Thursday, so please come.  Keep up with the 30 day plan and think positively and everything will be solved. :)

What We Did

We started off the class with taking out our There Will Be Wolves chapters 9-10 questions and having Ms. Lees checking them. She looked over all our answers and gave suggestions for those we answered poorly on. After she went through everyone, we reviewed and went over the answers for chapters 6-10. When all the questions were answered, we took the quiz for chapters 6-10. The quiz had almost the exact same format as the chapters 1-5 quiz, so we there was no confusion. We traded our quizzes around the group to mark.

Ms. Lees also answered any questions about the diary that is due Monday. She stated that the diary has to be two pages long and double spaced. We can print it or write it neatly, but if we're printing, the font size has to be 12 and the font cannot be too fancy that is difficult to read. The best font choice is the default font.

Ms. Lees handed out a sheet which has information on how to make your bibliography. We went over how the format should be and some rules and must-haves for a bibliography.

Learning Intentions

Ms. Lees wanted to check our answers because she wanted to observe who finished their homework and who didn't. She also wanted to see how our answers improved in both quality and quantity. We reviewed chapters 6-10 because there was a test on it after, so she wanted us to bring back our memories for those chapters to prepare for the test. We were tested on chapters 6-10 to see how much we remember and understood from those chapters.

We got a chance to ask questions about the diary because Ms. Lees wanted us to have no confusion in the format she wants it in. She wants the font and font size in a specific type because she needs to be able to read it easily, and if the font size is too large and the quantity is just meeting, which is two pages, we don't have enough writing down.

We spent time on the bibliography sheet because we needed to write a bibliography for our diary and many of us don't know how the format should be.

Reflections/Connections

I liked how we reviewed chapters 6-10 first before we did the quiz. That really helped me on the quiz because I forgot some of the incidents that happened in those chapters. The quiz was quite easy for me, but I forgot the order of the events that happened.

The discussion about the diary straightened out my confusion. I was kind of confused about the font size if we were printing it, but I'm glad that she answered it before I could ask.

I didn't know that there was so many rules for making a bibliography. I thought that you just needed to write the source you got the information from. In fact, you needed to place the background information in a specific order. There is also small rules such as the last name of the author has to come before the first name.

Homework

You have to finish your diary for Monday. It should be either printed or neatly written with the bibliography. The length should be two pages long, double spaced.

Tips

If you finish your diary by Monday, you get put in a group and earn more time to work on your skit while others work on their diary. Also, if you know that you will be busy later on, you might want to finish your chapter questions before you get busy.

30 day challenge progress report

My 30 day challenge was to wake up at 6:30am every morning except Sundays.  Nevertheless, I sometimes have trouble sticking up with my 30 day challenge because sometimes I sleep really because of homework.  Therefore, I wake up a little bit later than 6:30am.   Therefore, in order to stick to this challenge, I will have to finish my homework right after I get from school and sleep right at 9:00pm.

What we did
Today was a double block day.  Anyways, in the first block, we talked about what we were going to do until spring break.  For example, on the board, Ms. Lees wrote Wednesday-There will be wolves Chapter 1-5  quiz.  After she was done with that, she asked if anyone was going to be away before spring break or after spring break.  Therefore, she told the people that will be away that they have to finish the 'There will be wolves' chapter questions before they left.  Then, we went over Chapter 1-5 of 'There will be wolves' until break.  After we came back from the break, we had the Chapter 1-5 quiz.  After, Ms. Lees gave the rest of class time to finish Chapter 10 questions, or to finish the notes.  Our day was done after that.

Why we did it
Today, Ms. Lees talked about what we were going to do until spring break because Ms. Lees  had a water leak at her house, so she could be absent any time.  Therefore, she told us beforehand what was going to happen.  We reviewed the Chapter 1-5 of 'There will be wolves' not just because we had a quiz, to make us understand what happen in the book and to make us ask questions about it.  After the review, we had the quiz to check our understandings.  After that, Ms. Lees gave us the quiet working time so that some behind guys can catch up on novel questions or to finish the notes for the Medieval role project.

Connections/Reflections
I really loved that we got the quiet working time.  I like quiet working time because if you have the quiet working time in class, you can work hard, and have no homework!  Some of us were loud and obnoxious in the working time, so I think our class can improve on staying on task.  I didn't really like that chapter 1-5 quiz but as a student, it is something we have to do because without tests, the teachers won't know what we learned.

Homework/Tips
For Friday, finish up to Chapter 10 for'There will be wolves'.  Also, you have to finish the notes for the Medieval role project with the bibliography by Friday and you have to bring it! You can also study for upcoming quizzes or tests.  On Friday, we have test on 'There will be wolves' again.  FLEX is tomorrow(Thursday) so if you have any questions, you should go to FLEX.
